Activities to try

Let’s say you are trying to still keep it on the neutral side and just trying to have fun, then the activities are more likely to please and entertain you for now.

Target shooting

Air guns are a good weapon when you want to try and enjoy plinking and target shooting. If you do have a backyard with enough space for target shooting, you no longer have to spend time and money going to the a shooting range just so you can enjoy this activity. There are several types of targets that you can use, such as shattering, spinning and paper targets. It will depend on what you really prefer and what excites you the most. Target shooting is also an activity that the whole family can enjoy, regardless of age and gender. Just make sure that you supervise the kids closely and that all safety precautions are strictly observed at all times. You also need to be mindful with your neighbors and consider if you are already becoming a nuisance because of the noise. But if the neighbors are all ready to take on the challenge, why not invite them over and have fun together?

Small game hunting

Let’s say you are getting to feel quite bored with simple target shooting, so maybe it is about time to take  it up a notch just a bit and try another activity for a change. Small game hunting will surely catch your interest if you love the chasing and challenge that it can bring. Typically, you will be hunting for squirrels and rabbits. If you’re up for a tougher contender, try hunting for opossums, raccoons and woodchucks.

Varmint hunting

This is quite similar to small game hunting but not quite. Varmints are composed of several varieties of pests such as prairie dogs, raccoons, woodchucks, opossums and nutria. Most furbearers also fall into this category and you will need at least .22 caliber or higher to take down these pests. However, you need to remember that certain states will have their own local regulations when it comes to this kind of hunting, so be sure to check that out first.

Predator hunting

Just like with how varmint hunting works, predator hunting will also require you to check with the local hunting-with-air-rifles-safety government first regarding their rules and regulations pertaining to hunting. Predators include bobcats, fox and coyotes. The air gun that you will need for this kind of activity will be similar to those that are being used when hunting turkeys and hogs. Ideally, you will need to have an air gun with .25 caliber or higher.

Competitions

If you think you are skilled enough to take on competitions and other similar activities, you will need to also prepare for a more serious and powerful kind of air gun. Such guns are built for this purpose and also feature particular specifications that will help you keep an edge from your opponents. Competitive shooting includes field target, silhouette and 10-meter.

Endless fun and excitement

Aside from the activities mentioned above, nothing can stop you from making your own activity to enjoy. The possibilities are in fact endless and you can always come up with something new whenever you like paintball-vs-airsoft-difference it. If you are feeling kind of bored with your usual target, why not try something unusual every once in a while? You can line up a row of acorns for example, or start stacking up pine cones at the backyard. You can also ask your kids or friends to think of something fun and exciting. If you want a more serious challenge, you can try hanging a small branch with one leaf on it and see who can shoot the leaf off its branch. Just make sure that the target is leaning against a safe backstop to avoid any accident or danger.

The outdoors can present a lot of targets and activities for you and your family to enjoy. You can also use other items such as lollipops, balloons and even tiny canisters filled with intriguing stuff such as flour, mustards and even ketchup packets. Do not worry about getting the place messy because that is where the real fun is. Just don’t get fuzzy over the cleaning process afterwards!
